Senator Zell Miller and Governor Perdue to Speak at Pro-Life Event
ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 12, 2006 -- The Together for Life Memorial Service and Walk, Georgia's largest annual pro-life gathering, will be held Monday, January 23, 2006 on the steps of the Georgia Capitol in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Memorial Service, sponsored by Georgia Right to Life begins at 11:30 a.m. and is followed by a one-mile long silent walk through downtown Atlanta.
This year's keynote speaker is former United States Senator Zell Miller. Now a strong pro-life advocate, Senator Miller speaks across the country on pro-life issues.
In addition, pro-life Governor Sonny Perdue will speak. Governor Perdue signed into law the Women's Right to Know bill in May 2005.
Together for Life (TFL), commemorating the 33rd anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton Supreme Court decisions that legalized abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy, usually draws over 5,000 Georgians annually who stand as a respectful appeal to lawmakers to pass protective pro-life legislation.
"This is an opportunity for pro-life Georgians to come together to mourn the deaths of approximately 45 million babies who have died from abortion since 1973," states Georgia Right to Life President Caryl Swift.
According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, 96% of abortions are because of reasons of convenience and birth control. Over 32,000 abortions are performed annually in Georgia.
Georgia Right to Life is a non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian organization of diverse and caring people united to engage in actions that will restore respect and effective legal protection for all human beings from the moment of fertilization until natural death.
